It is Krsna’s objective to reclaim the conditioned souls because Krsna knows that these living beings are just shadows of themselves – that those who are in the material world trying to somehow or the other squeeze some happiness out of material objects, and decorate the darkness with little candles and stars and some green branches to make the month of December a little lighter – they do not realize that the artificial glitter of the material energy is dull, and compared in Srimad Bhagavatam to the glitter of the firefly in comparison to the shine of true luminaries.
