The first time I had a bead bag, ‘oh God, I’ve got a bead bag now! Oh no! I mean I have to walk with this in the street? Put it under my coat! Nobody watching. Okay. Hare Krsna Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare…I mean you wouldn’t wanna show people if you got one of these, would you?’ but we have to be bold, to stand up for Krsna. ‘ But you know, what would people say?’ we don’t care. We care what we’re going to say. So many times Prabhupada was interviewed and he didn’t care what they said. So many times they asked a question and he gave a totally different answer, even ignoring the question but saying what he wanted to say! So what does it matter, let them think, let them think that we are crazy. Prabhupada’s response to that was, “who is crazy?”, in the very early 60’s in one of the first brochures: “who is crazy?” so pure devotee means to be the instrument of the Supreme Lord somehow or other; of His teachings. And such a devotee is priyo narah; he is most dear to the Lord, most dear. So we must become such devotes. Pure devotee means that devotee who is most dear to the Lord…
