It is our desire that makes us transcend the limitations of the material world. When a devotee strongly desires, then somehow or the other, it becomes possible.
It is many times said that by the mercy of Mahaprabhu, the lame can cross mountains, the blind can see the lumininaries in the sky, the dumb can recite eloquent poetry and so on. It begins with desire.
When we desire, the Lord will reciprocate.
So partially, the devotee is doing incredible things on the strength of desire.
