Kadamba Kanana Swami gave a wonderful talk and vibrant kirtan at Uddhava Prabhu and Vishaka Devi Dasi’s house in Amsterdam.
‘Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu took initiation from Isvara Puri. Isvara Puri, his claim to fame was that he was a very humble servant, dedicated servant of his spiritual master. He served Madhavendra Puri to the end of his life, who had became paralysed – which is kind of amazing because such a personality, such an Acharya, has to go through that. And then sometimes he was lying in his own stool- and Isvara Puri was cleaning – taking care of him completely with great dedication and for this selfless dedication, Isvara Puri got all the blessings.
Therefore Isvara Puri stands for being the greatest servant, that is his quality and he became the spiritual master of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Of course the Supreme Lord- He can choose… we ourselves- well, we must sort of accept according to destiny – but Lord Chaitanya, destiny is in His hands. In our life destiny comes. Yes we get some opportunities, we get some opportunities and then we can choose from the opportunities. With Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, He has free choice. He doesn’t have to choose from the opportunities. Our choice is always limited with the opportunities but the Lord has unlimited choice.
So in His unlimited choice He chose Isvara Puri which is very interesting.
We can see that He desired to emphasise the qualities of Isvara Puri – because we understand the Lord performs His pastimes for our sake and He wanted to emphasise this mood of Isvara Puri as the mood that should be remembered.
That mood of just dedicated menial service. That kind of spirit- that is nice.’
