Devotees that take shelter of Srila Prabhupada, they find the true taste – because Prabhupada made no compromise. Prabhupada would never sacrifice the principles of bhakti for any other goal. Once Srila Prabhupada was in Japan, in the city of Kobe, outside of Tokyo and there was a very wealthy man and this wealthy man had promised to give a temple.
Prabhupada went to this place Kobe to do a programme. Before he came, in a hall there was a stage and there was a Vyasasanna: a big one and there was a picture of the wealthy man’s guru and then there was a small Vyasasana and in the programme there was suppose to be two speakers, Prabhupada and the one Mayavadi – and they said that they could use the small Vyasasana.
The devotees said: ’No No No No, it wont do,…Prabhupada is Jagat Guru, he must have the big one, the big Vyasasana.’…
So the rich man said: ‘Ok, you can use the big Vyasasana but both must sit on the Vyasasana’
Then the programme was about to happen and Prabhupada sat down on the Vyasasana and he gave a lecture on chanting Hare Krishna and how Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Then Prabhupada had finished and it was the turn of the Mayavadi Sanyassi to speak. So the organiser came and asked Prabhupada to come down so that the other Sanyassi could sit – Prabhupada smiled and never came off the seat!
Prabhupada did not come of the Vyasasana and then they tried to get the mayavadi to sit and in the end they had to give the mayavadi the little Vyasasana.
When the mayavadi went to speak, Prabhupada suddenly ordered the disciples: ”Kirtana!” – and the mayavadi was unable to give a talk!
Prabhupada was such a person that he wouldn’t just sell for the money and try to pacify these people for the money and take the big temple…No.
“Let the big temple go, I will speak the truth”
So that is Suddha Bhakti. Prabhupada was such a devotee, not compromised and always giving the pure understanding of the instructions, of the scriptures of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, of his Spiritual Master and that is what created the faith and it is that faith which changed people‘s lives.
