Depicted is the first day’s parade of the Durban Ratha Yatra.
The day started with an inspiring talk about the varnaprasta ashrama, given by His Holiness Jayadvaita Maharaja. After the class all the devotees went to the starting point of the Ratha Yatra. There a huge crowd gathered, an African dance groop performed traditional dances and the devotees were performing Kirtana for the pleassure of Lord Baladeva, Lady Subadra and Lord Jagannatha, who one after the other arrived on the site.
Then, after the deities had been installed on the chariots, the procession started. Kadamba Kanana Maharaja led the Kirtana in front of Lord Balarama’s chariot, and certainly rocked everyone’s heart. After a two and a half hour’s parade the three chariots arrived on the festival site, where various tents and stages were set up.
On the site Maharaja gave an inspiring talk in the youth-lounge tent followed by some Kirtana and later on enlightened the devotees in the questions and answers tent.
