Back in Germany, Maharaja went to the first Ratha Yatra ever in Hamburg, one of Germany’s main cities. Actually in Hamburg, Germany’s first temple was founded and famous personalities like Bhakti Bhusana Maharaja, Bhakti Vaibhava Maharaja and Sacinandana Maharaja joined there. But somehow or other there was never a Ratha Yatra blessing the local citizens.
Now after 42 years of Krsna consciousness in Germany, for the first time Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra made Their way through Their city. The Parade was short but powerful. Kadamba Kanana Maharaja was starting and ending the parade-kirtana. Jaya Gaura Prabhu, a Prabhupada disciple from Germany, was the main organizer of the Ratha Yatra and also lead a rocking kirtana for the lord. A small but beautiful stage program followed, with dances, bhajanas and even a German rap-group called “Tulsi Beatz”.
The festival concluded with Markandeya Prabhu, a disciple of Kadamba Kanana Maharaja, who is an expert songwriter and inspired the audience with some wonderful pieces of his. It was indeed a successful Ratha Yatra for this important city!
