(H H Kadamba Kanana Swami, November 2011, Mayapur) Lecture: Caitanya-caritāmṛta part 11
It is often so that the one who shows us the path is not necessarily following that path. Sometimes yes, and other times no. In my case within my home town the people who were into devotional service were also into devotees. But they were not following the principles, since they were taking drugs and all kinds of things, but somehow or other they liked the Hare Krishnas. They had faith in the devotees. This impressed me, the fact that they had this faith, and it reinforced my own faith, because we need that, whilst our own initial faith is sort of being developed. We need this feeling that we are not alone, which is very important. Otherwise it is very difficult for our faith to be really strong.
To believe in something all by yourself, and the world opposing you – that is too much! To stand up against the world all on your own, is very difficult to do. Only one who is very strong can do such a thing. Like Srila Prabhupada did that. He went alone to the capital of maya, because New York is the capital of maya – if you didn’t know!
