(HH Kadamba Kanana Swami, Radhadesh, Belgium, April 2012) Lecture: SB 5.12.8

Sometimes a point is made that a preacher should speak very boldly. Srila Prabhupada was an example of one who could speak very boldly. For example in Calcutta there were Naxalites who were very violent terrorists type of people, and they were communists. So at one point they were objecting to Prabhupada’s programs, because they felt that this religion was an opening for the people! Therefore they had bomb threats for the Pandal programs and they were rowdy during programs.

Srila Prabhupada agreed to meet with them. The police were saying:

‘You better not.’

But Prabhupada met them, heard them out and then explained to them how Krishna Consciousness is about spiritual communism. He convinced them that actually it was behind communism after all. Then there were no more problems from the Naxalites, but he was not confrontational then. So although Prabhupada was bold and was ready to stand up against opposition, it wasn’t foolish or blind. He was considering when to speak in a confrontational way and when to pacify and so on… so one might take inspiration from bold preachers!
