(HH Kadamba Kanana Swami, Cape Town, South Africa, 30th June 2012) Lecture: BG Chptr 5
People with mental illness they may not fully have control over their minds. With a talk like this they may not have the piece of mind to fully absorb it. But something that they can do is that they can also chant the Maha Mantra, and it can also uplift them!
We have many. In Amsterdam there a lot of people who have sort of lost it somewhere on the way. Yes, we had a man who was coming to our temple and he was claiming to be ‘the moon.’ He was saying:
‘I am the moon personified!’
Well nice to meet you Mr Moon! He was just completely the moon – so literally a lunatic! But the Bhagavad-Gita explains:
‘That you’re not the body.’
So we explained about the Bhagavad-Gita and he came back again and again, then eventually he got it and he was still the moon, but he knew that actually he was only temporary, and that he was an eternal soul. So he did well:
‘Really I’m an eternal soul, but of course, I’m the moon, right?’
And he knew that one-day he wouldn’t be the moon anymore and that he would still be an eternal soul, which is immense that even the craziest kind can take it!
