(HH Kadamba Kanana Swami, Durban, South Africa, 21st September 2012) Lecture: SB 11. 31. 22-23

Who can capture more of Krsna than Srimati Radharani?

It says in the Gita Govinda:

’Where is Krsna? Krsna is on the banks of the Yamuna. What is He doing there? He is learning how to dance, and His mistress, Srimati Radharani, is teaching Him all the moves.  He is just dancing behind her. Wherever she moves, He is dancing behind her!’

So it is nice how Krsna is controlled.  It’s nice how Krsna is captured by love, and then as Krsna is captured by love, He is forced to reveal Himself.  He’ll hide Himself again and again, that’s what He will do, but not for long! Again He has to reveal Himself.

Therefore, this Chapter of the disappearance of Lord Krsna can’t be the last one. It’s not that after this chapter the Bhagavatam will end and it’s like it’s ‘The End’ and that it’s all over – it was beautiful! No, it goes on after this. Surely Krsna will reappear and there is no doubt about it! Well, we meditate on that, but meanwhile, we don’t like this disappearance so much because it puts us in separation.  So the Mauṣala-līlā is not the vaisnava’s favourite, and devotees don’t  say:

‘I really love these chapters in the 11 canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam of Krsna’s disappearance. That’s my favourite! When He gets shot by the hunter  in His lotus foot, I really liked that.‘

When someone speaks like that, then something is wrong! No, devotees are generally not into this Mauṣala-līlā.  It says that the vaisnavas generally do not discuss this, but of course to be complete, it is included in the Srimad Bhagavatam. But it’s not like:

‘Now such and such Swami is going to give a seminar about this Mauṣala-līlā – on all the disappearance pastimes of Krsna.’

No, we don’t give seminars on this topic but as we are discussing the Bhagavatam, and as we are getting a complete picture of Krsna, then yes, we are discussing.  But we are looking at it as the eternal nature of Krsna.  That’s the one that warms the heart – the one where Krsna is eternal and Krsna will always be there!
