(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Srimad Bhagavatam 4.28.55)

Devotee: Your explanation implies that every woman wants to be a mother?motherly love 1

I think deep down within every woman, there is a motherly tendency and that must be encouraged in culture as something which is positive. Of course, in modern society sometimes that tendency is buried under so many layers of false ego and false roles that are imposed on life. You have women that have PhDs, smoke cigars, have a motorbike and they may not want to be mothers. That could be but that is just layers of false ego on top!

Devotee: There are always exceptions where, even in the Vedic times there were yoginis who were forced to be a mother

But they are still a mother in a sense. Where they may not be a biological mother and have children, they still have a motherly aspect to their nature. That is still being recognized and to be cultivated. Even in saintly ladies, who remain celibate for life, they still should be motherly.
