(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 30 June 2012, Cape Town, South Africa, Bhagavad-gita Chapter 5)

So what’s wrong with stress, a little stress? If there is no stress, or if you don’t stress yourself a bit then life gets really boring. If you never stress yourself, you have everything, very peaceful, everything is calm and relaxed.

You chew every bite of food a 100 times till it tastes like nothing. Can’t you just sometimes chew it 3-4 times and just swallow it and go for the next? So, stress is not good or bad, it depends. Too much of anything is not good.

So another thing is peace, people want peace of mind. But okay, we want some peace but we also want some excitement. And if it’s only peace, you know it‘s like:

‘It’s very peaceful here. Nothing ever happens. I think I’m going nuts. I think I need some life. I can’t get out of here!’

So yes, that’s also there. So we are looking for yoga. Yoga therefore is not about just physical fitness or mental peace. Yoga means to connect with nature. Our body should be connected with nature, that makes sense. Obviously, then our mind also needs to connect. You can’t have a unconnected mind, it doesn’t exist, the mind is always connected to something; that is the nature of the mind!
