(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 8 January 2013, Pretoria, South Africa)
The holy dhama is so potent and so wonderful and the kirtans of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu are so wonderful. A little of that glimpse we had tonight – remembering the transcendental nature of the spiritual world and the activities of the spiritual world. Everything is revealed by becoming completely absorbed because that is what kirtan does.
In such a kirtan, no one is mental about, “O jeez, tomorrow I have to…!” In the kirtan there is no tomorrow. There is only the here and now – the ever-present. That is the spiritual world. In the spiritual world, there is only the ever-present. So we can see that when we get absorbed, it is like that – there is only the ever-present.
So we get a glimpse. Our absorption does not compare to the absorption of the residents of the spiritual world. But a glimpse is enough. And that glimpse is enough to keep us connected. Just those glimpses of transcendence keep us connected to the spiritual world. Even though sometimes the material desires are strong, we stay connected because we get these glimpses, these moments, these experiences and these bind us.
