Prahlada-NrsmhaFor the last week, Kadamba Kanana Maharaja stayed at the German farm, Simhachalam. This project is unique in the Hare Krsna movement in that it is the only temple that solely and opulently worships a massive Prahlada-Nrsimha deity. For many years, the temple has been stagnant due to a lack of devotees staying at the farm. The main income of the farm has been the two big annual events, namely the Sankirtan Festival which is held in the week before New Year’s Eve and Nrsimha Caturdasi, the Lord’s Appearance Day. Kadamba Kanana Maharaja as well as many other prominent personalities in Iskcon, religiously participate in these festivals and in this way the farm was kept alive, although little progressed over the years.

However, Simhachalam has fully come back to life. The temple management changed and with Jaya Sacinandana Prabhu, a qualified temple president taking over, things start moving forward. Devotees feel inspired to move to the farm and even the German sankirtan parties, who travel in their vans throughout the country to distribute Srila Prabhupada’s books, chose the farm as their base. Thus the temple programs are again well attended, daily classes take place and there is regular book distribution and preaching programs also happening.  Still, being a farm project in the midst of Bavarian nature, Simhachalam provides a peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful walks lead through fields and forests and a newly renovated guesthouse provides visitors with comfortable rooms.

Kadamba Kanana Maharaja thus spent a peaceful week that focused on recuperating his health. Every alternate day, he gave a Srimad Bhagavatam class in the morning but otherwise, his day was filled with resting, worshiping Giriraja Govinda and walks through the snow-struck area.

Now Maharaja has continued his travels to the United Kingdom for a kirtan event and an initiation ceremony in Leicester, as well as a few days at the Bhaktivedanta Manor in London.

Please find below the above mentioned Srimad Bhagavatam classes and one kirtan session held by Kadamba Kanana Swami. To download the classes just right-click on each title and “save target as”.
