The golden age
“Lord Caitanya’s movement is the movement of spontaneity. It is not the movement of devotional service according to rules and regulations. Of course, in Lord Caitanya’s movement, rules and regulations are part of the process but one is meant to go beyond that to the spontaneous platform and that is being recommended. Therefore we expect that one class of men, the Hari Bhaktas, will be predominated by spontaneous devotional service, by natural attraction to Krsna.”
“Lord Caitanya particularly came to teach how to be influenced by spontaneous love. It is about krsnaprema. Therefore, I think, what will happen is that we will see people just totally absorbed. There will be kirtan everywhere, in every house. The evil eye will disappear and instead of that light of the TV reflecting on the walls of every living room, there will be kirtan in the house.” Melbourne, March 2011
Nothing but Krsna
“When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu returned from Gaya after his initiation, he had become a devotee. It is said that the Lord had first stopped on the way and was chanting the Gayatri mantra. As he was chanting the Gopal mantra, he had the darshan of Gopal and then Gopal disappeared. So this was a great shock and from that moment on, he was overwhelmed by separation and when he came back, he could think only of Krsna. We remember that he was teaching his students sanskrit grammar and that he explained every word, every word to mean Krsna. Nothing but Krsna.” Radhadesh, April 2010
The maintainer
“Lord Caitanya’s understanding of Visvambara, of maintaining the entire universe, means that unless one has been given love of God, he has not been maintained. It’s not enough to give someone food, dress, clothing – it’s not enough to give ANYTHING! Everything falls short until the point where one has given love of God. So Lord Caitanya thought: My name is Visvambara, the maintainer of the entire universe. Unless I give love of God, I will not live up to that name.” Vrndavan, 2003
Chant endlessly
Vasudev, the leper, wanted to somehow or the other, meet Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He went to the spot where Caitanya Mahaprabhu was supposed to be but when he arrived, Caitanya Mahaprabhu had already left. He was so shocked that he lamented and lamented and lamented, and it is said that at this point, Caitanya Mahaprabhu just appeared again on that spot. He was back and he gave the mercy to this brahmana. He embraced him and cured his body. He had a beautiful healthy body after that, and Vasudev was very happy that the Lord had bestowed mercy upon him.
But after the initial happiness was over, he said, “But my dear Lord, now that I am in this position, I am wondering how I will be saved from falling prey to pride? Previously that was very easy because I was totally abominable so I never had a chance to get carried away by pride. I was just some low leper, but now, I might think that, well, an attractive brahmana like me.. So how do I save myself from being contaminated?”
So Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu instructed him to always chant the holy name of the Lord. This is a very important instruction – to endlessly chant the holy name of the Lord, and that one must also instruct whoever you meet, about Krsna. So these are the two principles and he said, “If you do this, you will never be overcome by the three modes of material nature, I guarantee that!” So here, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is giving a guarantee! This guarantee is for Vasudev, but these are also guarantees for us. So the Lord has all these little standards for us in his pastimes. Vrndavan, 2003
