(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 3 March 2013, Vrndavan, India, Srimad Bhagavatam 4.27.10)

SPsamadhi12-vWe have taken birth in this age of kali. Those living beings who are qualified, and there are so many, actually go back to Godhead. Some don’t go back to Godhead and take birth again. Some of them even carry on until the tetra-yuga. In the tetra-yuga, the standard for the human form of life has become a little lower. What would we have been in the satya-yuga with our current consciousness? Now I’m a big guru but maybe then I would have been a kangaroo? What can I say, you know I still have that consciousness of bouncing around from here to there!

So by the time it comes to kali-yuga, the facility is made very easy. Even those who have no qualifications at all, get a human form of life. A human form of life is now very cheap. It is very easily available and here we are walking around, “We’ve got the human form of life.” Yes, it is a special concession. A special concession that even those who have the animalistic propensities, in the age of kali they get the human form of life and here we are walking around.

Therefore mercy is very important. Here, in this temple in Vrndavan, Srila Prabhupada placed Krsna and Balarama on this central altar and a lot of people have tried to give explanations as to why. Some have said, “Because it is Raman Reti, the place where Krsna and Balarama was, that is why Krsna Balarama are on the central altar.” Others have said, “Actually Srila Prabhupada is in satya-bhava, therefore he put Krsna Balarama.” Whatever they say, whether it’s true or not, what do I know!?

But one thing that I do know is what Srila Prabhupada writes in the purports of the Caitanya Caritamrta, that he has installed Krsna Balarama here because they are no different from Gaura Nitai! That’s what he wrote. We are here on the strength of mercy. We don’t belong here. We are not here in Vrndavan on the strength of pious birth, that’s not us. We are here in Vrndavan just because of mercy because of Prabhupada’s mercy.
