(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 28 February 2013, Vrndavan, India, Caitanya Caritamrta Seminar 3)
Tamal Krishna Maharaja told the story of when he went to China. He said that he was a vegetarian. They asked, “What does that mean?”
He said, “I’m very strict. I don’t eat any meat, fish, eggs, onion, garlic and like that.” They a said alright and then they made a cake for him and brought it to him.
He asked, “Is it vegetarian?”
They said, “Yes, yes.”
Tamal Krishna Maharaja asked, “No meat, fish or eggs.”
They replied, “No, no meat fish or eggs.”
He was still doubtful and said, “What is it made from?”
And they said, ‘Insects!’
So maybe in the future, we will extend the definition of of vegetarian at initiation – no meat, fish, eggs and no cockroaches!
