(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 20 April 2013, Korsnas, Stockholm, Sweden, Srimad Bhagavatam 1.17.1)
We see that the threshold for the human form of life is lowered in different yugas. In the satya yuga, to attain the human form of life, one has to be very qualified because in satya yuga human beings are very qualified. In the treta yuga, they are less qualified and in dvarpa yuga still less qualified.
In the age of kali, one gets the human form of life very easily. We see that human beings are not qualified in the age of kali but still, they are given human forms. With the consciousness that people have in this age of kali, in another yuga, all these human beings would have been animals. They would have been animals but in this age, they got the human form very easily.
So in a sense, the age of kali is like a facility for the less qualified. Just like a school for students with learner problems – those who did not pass the university of satya yuga, those who did not pass the high school of treta yuga, those who did not even pass the basic education of dvarpa yuga, they can go to the school for those with learner problems, which is kali yuga. So they are the hopeless cases – welcome to the club. Here we are – hopeless cases but somehow or other, receiving great mercy.
