That is the essence of the Bhagavad-gita – that it can lift us way beyond our expectations, way beyond anything that we thought we could be. And that is spiritual life too.
That is why we need a spiritual master. A spiritual master is basically someone who has a vision of us being something much greater than the vision we have of ourselves. That is what the spiritual master does. He looks at us and thinks, “You could be something much greater than what you think you could be!” So yeah, he gives us a vision of ourselves.
