On Tuesday morning (5 August), Kadamba Kanana Swami flew out of Zurich to Germany for the Kirtan Mela which took place from 5 – 8th August. However, devotees began arriving in Walthersdorf the day before in anticipation of the festival. The festival was opened by Sarvatma Prabhu with his welcome speech and glorification of the Lord with kirtan. Many other well-known kirtan leaders were present, such as: Lokanath Swami, Kavichandra Swami, Jay Gaura Prabhu and Aditi Dukha Prabhu, who added to the festival with their distinctive styles and different moods.

On 7th August, which was ekadasi, Kadamba Kanana Swami gave the morning lecture where he stressed the importance of chanting a minimum of sixteen rounds of japa daily. The lecture was followed by an initiation ceremony of three devotees from Germany which took place on the lawn outside of the kirtan mela hall. Rajesh became Rupa Goswami Dasa, Gayatri became Gayatri Dhwani Devi Dasi and Anna Dering became Asesa Kirti Devi Dasi.

Recordings of kirtans, a Srimad Bhagavatam lecture which was also a glorious tribute to Madhudvisa prabhu and initiations by Kadamba Kanana Swami are presented below.

On Friday afternoon, Maharaj left for Leipzig for the Ratha Yatra festival which took place the next day. Devotees from all over Germany and Europe came to see Their Lordships Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra.

At 12 noon, Kavicandra Swami and Kadamba Kanana Swami opened the festival and the procession went through the center of Leipzig in an ecstatic atmosphere. Many locals and tourists joined the festival and danced through the streets. After an almost three hour procession, the chariot arrived at the festival site. Great prasadam was served by the devotees, while guests were entertained by a cultural programme with kirtan, Indian dances, songs by Markandeya and a lecture by Kadamba Kanana Swami.

In the late afternoon, Maharaj left for the Czech Republic to celebrate Balarama Jayanti and the opening of a new temple there.

–> When I listened to it, there was no German translation – it rather sounds like Czech translation.
